🙏 Thivasam (Death Tithi) Calculator
Find the annual Shraddha / Thivasam date from the Hindu lunar Tithi of the death date
What is Thivasam?
Thivasam (Tamil: திவசம்) is the annual death anniversary observed in Tamil Hindu tradition, performed as Shraddha — a ritual of offerings to the departed soul. Unlike the Gregorian anniversary, the Thivasam is observed on the same lunar Tithi in the same Paksha (waxing or waning fortnight) as the original death date.
For example, if a person passed away on a day when the Tithi was Krishna Paksha Ashtami, the annual Thivasam is performed every year on the next Krishna Paksha Ashtami.
Because the lunar calendar varies from the solar calendar, the Gregorian date of the Thivasam changes every year — this calculator finds the correct Gregorian date for any given year.
