What is Chandrashtamam?
Chandrashtamam (from Sanskrit: Chandra = Moon, Ashtama = 8th) refers to the period when the transiting Moon passes through the 8th Nakshatra counted from your Janma Nakshatra (birth star). It occurs approximately once every 27 days and lasts about one day.
Chandrashtamam is considered inauspicious for starting new ventures, travel, surgery, signing contracts, or important decisions. It is recommended to use this time for rest, spiritual practice, and completion of existing tasks rather than new beginnings.
