Also known as: Masik Shivaratri, Monthly Shivaratri, Masa Shivaratri
Om Namah Shivaya - Shivaratri Ki Shubhkamnaye
Significance
Shivaratri (Night of Shiva) occurs monthly on the 14th day of Krishna Paksha (Chaturdashi). It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is marked by night-long worship, fasting, and meditation. The annual Maha Shivaratri in Phalguna month is the most significant, but monthly observances are also highly meritorious. The night vigil on Shivaratri is believed to please Lord Shiva and grant spiritual liberation.
